Fees and Rebates

Fees per Session

The cost of treatment sessions is $170 per session, which is lower than that recommended by the Australian Psychological Society. Fees are payable at the time of consultation. Accepted forms of payment include cash, EFTPOS, Visa, MasterCard, and Bankcard.

You do not need a referral for an appointment (unless you are coming under the Medicare scheme) - so just call 1800 AMICUS (1 800 264 287) about appointment times.

Medicare Rebate

Medicare covers $117.65 per one-hour session for a maximum of 12 sessions per calendar year if you have a referral (Mental Health Treatment Plan) from your local doctor. This means you are only paying $52.35 per session for professional assistance. Please feel free to email us if you require more informationabout Medicare rebates. If you already have a Mental Health Treatment Plan referral to another clinician, it is fully transferrable and there is no need to get another plan. You can change to seeing a clinician at Amicus without getting another plan, provided you bring a copy of the referrral with you to your appointment with Amicus.

Private Health Insurance

Many private health funds now offer rebates for psychological services. We are registered providers with most of the major health care funds such as Australian Unity, Australian Health Management (AHM), MBF, NIB, HCF, NRMA, and Medibank Private. Please check with your health fund to see if you are able to claim for psychological services.
